Dr. LeRoy Hill, Jr.
Dr. LeRoy Hill, Jr. is a resident of Suffolk, VA. He is currently serving as the Senior Pastor of the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church, Portsmouth, Virginia. Pastor Hill has a love for teaching and training others in the Word of God. While Dr. Hill lived and served as a bi-vocational pastor, public school educator, and administrator in Oklahoma, he also taught as an adjunct professor at the American Christian College and Seminary, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He also taught at the Bethesda Baptist Bible Institute, a satellite campus of the Oklahoma Baptist University, Shawnee, Oklahoma. He currently serves on the board of directors and as an adjunct professor with the Angelos Bible College, in Portsmouth, VA. Pastor Hill believes that biblical education is so vitally important for pastors and all teachers of the Word of God. Because of that conviction, he has prepared himself for that task by matriculating in various citadels of theological training. He has attained a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas in 1991. He earned a Doctorate in Ministry degree from Virginia University of Lynchburg, Virginia on May 2, 2015. He earned a second Doctorate in Ministry degree in Leadership and Spiritual Renewal, specializing in Community Transformation of Urban Societies from Regent University School of Divinity, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on May 11, 2018. In August of 2008, he attended an intensive week of homiletic and hermeneutic training at the Regent Park Baptist College of Oxford University, in Oxford, England.
From October 2006 to October 2008, Pastor Hill served as a missionary in Guyana, South America, Kingston, Jamaica, Pretoria, and Mabopane, South Africa, through the Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Missions Convention. Pastor Hill has a passion for serving God’s people through preaching and teaching the gospel of the kingdom and equipping the saints for kingdom service. Pastor Hill is passionate about Evangelism, Discipleship, and Missions. He does this through the local church, conventions, and clergy organizations. His latest appointment was in December 2019, to the Chairman of the Board of Evangelism, for the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc. Prior to this, he held the position of Southeastern Regional Evangelism Coordinator of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. (Covering states from Virginia/D.C. down to Florida). Pastor Hill also has a passion to advance the kingdom through community service, by serving the American Cancer Society in various ways. He was chair and co-chair of the African American Men's Health Leadership Council and the African American Men's Health Forum serving as many as 600 men in the Hampton Roads community. He formerly served on the board for PVH (Portsmouth Volunteers for the Homeless) and served as the Vice President. Lastly, Pastor Hill enjoys serving as a church planting consultant and church health coach and helped with an African American Southern Baptist church plant in Newport News, Virginia.
Pastor Hill continues his efforts toward bringing the kingdom of God to the forefront in all areas of life through preaching the gospel, facilitating various seminars and workshops, and cultivating community development strategies for the glory of God and the good of all people.
He is married to the best blessing of his life, Chanda Braxton Hill. He has four children and six grandchildren. His greatest joy, second to his salvation, is spending quality time with his wife and family. He enjoys playing life-long sports (golf, bowling, tennis, racquetball, etc.) and is an avid sports fan. Finally, Dr. Hill enjoys covenant fellowships, dining out, traveling, mentoring, training the body of Christ, and living the Kingdom life to the fullest, for the glory of God and the good of all others.
